Words of a wise friend

So just before we left for Eastern Idaho, we lost a baby. To steal the words from a wise friend, "it sucks" Days following the miscarriage were spent preparing for the reunion and then during the reunion we were always going. It was nice to be distracted and not be thinking about it. When we returned home Sunday and the kids were in bed, I was alone in the quiet, and thats when it got hard. I know that for some reason this was the plan and that it is ok, but that doesn't make it easy. We are sad, and thats ok. I'm grateful that we hadn't told the kids, but Shad is so observant. About a month ago he laid down on my belly and said, "mom I think you have a baby in there" I told him it was just my big belly. A couple weeks later he came and rubbed my belly and said "Mom it seems like you have a baby in there" I asked if my belly was that big and he said "It just seems like it's growing" That little boy makes me laugh all the time. He is a great big brother and we look forward to bringing him another baby brother or sister someday.

We are pretty much moved into our new house and loving all the space we have. We went from a 1200 sf house to 2800 sf and our payment only increased by $23! The kids rooms are almost all put together & when they are I will post some pictures. It feels like this summer is going by way to fast. We have spent a lot of it being sick, and it has been one thing after another. I'm hoping we're done with all of that for a while. We just got back from Eastern Idaho where we had a Patterson family reunion at Beaver Dick Park. The kids had so much fun playing in the river and with all of their cousins. Jefferson got to shoot his bow and a bunch of guns with the guys. I got to play cards and volleyball with the fam so I guess there was something for everyone. Lorna was so good, she took good naps and slept good at night. We left the reunion Saturday and drove to Craters of the Moon, it was so much fun to walk around and explore. The kids loved climbing the cinder cone and going through Indian Tunnel. We definitely want to go back someday. After being gone for 5 days I've decided that we need to go on vacation more often, it was so nice to get away.

What do you do?

What do you when you are stuck in the hospital with your sweet four year old boy? Update the blog while listening to endless cartoons in the background. Shad woke up Monday the 5th with a cough, we figured it was from being up late and outside doing fireworks. His cough got a little bit worse, and Thursday night he got a fever that lasted through Saturday the 10th. Jefferson took him into Primary Health and they told him to take him to the ER so they went to the hospital where they did x-rays and gave the boy a breathing treatment. He was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis and put on antibiotics. However, he wasn't making the progress a mom wants to see so I took him to his pediatrician yesterday and after giving him a breathing treatment and listening to him, they told me to take him to the hospital. So here we sit. My little boy has pnemonia :( Yesterday they poked him 3 times before getting the IV in, and that was miserable for mom. Last night the IV came out so we are hoping we don't have to put another one in. He is doing fine, and is content as long as the cartoons keep rolling. Hopefully being here, and being on the right antibiotics he will get back to his fun self. Thank heavens for having family so close. They have jumped in and been so willing to help. Thanks for taking care of our sweet little girls, and loving them as much as we do. Hopefully we will be out soon, but last word was we could be here till Sat. so we'll see. I'll keep you update, and maybe get my camera up here so we can do some fun posts too.

Major Update

Ok. I have to appologize in advance for the long post with no pictures, but pictures will be coming as soon as we get into the new house & I have my computer back. I know I haven't posted anything since March, and I've heard about it from my sweet husband, but in my defense....we've been a little busy! Since then we celebrated our 6 year anniversary, and Jefferson turned 29! Things have been absolutely crazy...and it all started when we put our house on the market in March, 5 wks later we had an offer. They wanted to close May 12th so I got busy packing and we started looking for houses. We found a much bigger house on a bigger lot for a great deal, and are currently waiting to close on it. Although I am very excited that we were able to sell our house fairly quickly it was a bittersweet day when we left our first little house. We bought that house 9 months after we got married and have filled it with 3 little kids. We had amazing neighbors and will miss them so much. We are looking forward to the adventure that awaits us. We are living with my parents until we are able to close. A week after we moved in our sweet Lily dog was hit by a car and died. This was a horrible night for Jefferson and I. We told the kids the next day, and the next few days were very hard. I won't forget coming home from church the Sunday after it happened and Shad "whistled" and called "Lily" then got a sad look on his face and said, "oh yeah" the poor kid was heart broken, but we assured him we could get another dog someday. The plan was to find a dog after we moved to the new house, but that didn't happen, we now have a 10 wk old puppy named Casey. She is a lab/vizla mix and looks a lot like Lily did when she was a puppy. I'm wondering why I told Jefferson he could get another puppy because she is a lot of work, but the kids love her and I love seeing how happy they are. Shad played his first season of T-ball this year, and it was a lot of fun to watch him. He definitely doesn't have any killer instinct, yet anyway. Everytime he would run home, he had his arms straight out like an airplane. It was fun to see how much he progressed. He also finished his second year of playschool, and graduated with two of his cousins. Mylee is growing so much. She is sassy as ever and turning into a little girl. She loved watching Shad's games and talks about having a pink mit and helmet like one of the girls that was on Shad's team. Lorna is now almost 10 months old. She has 1 tooth, crawls all over the place, stands up next to things walks around furniture and has stood by herself for seconds at a time. She is so busy and therefore so am I. Jefferson is working as hard as ever and we appreciate him so much. We are all looking forward to nicer weather so we can get on the lake. Stay tuned for pics of the new puppy and the new house!

Monster Jam

My mother-inlaw gave us this obedience chart that goes with a book & CD we have. The kids work on getting to the "Land of Obey" When they are obedient they get to move their little trains closer to the Land of Obey and when they get there they get a reward. Shad & Mylee made it to the land of obey so we got to do something fun! Saturday we took them to the Monster Jam at the Idaho Center. They loved it. Shad's favorite monster truck was Gravedigger and Mylee's favorite was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (or the frog as she called it many times) They also had some 4-wheeler races during the show. One of the 4-wheelers was pink & Mylee thought that was the coolest thing ever. One of the coolest parts was that we also had pit passes so before the show we got to go down & get close to the trucks. The show itself was 2 hours long plus the time we spent at the pit party so by the end both of the kids were tuckered out.

Mylee LOVES to torment her brother by sitting on his yellow trailer. He gets so frustrated and says "its not for humans My, you're gonna break it" She knows exactly how to push his buttons. Here is a picture to go with an older post about Shad shoveling the neighbors driveway. Isn't he cute.
Shad loves Lorna so much, and by the looks of things she thinks hes pretty awesome too!

6 month checkup!

Alright so its a little late, but a couple weeks ago I took Lorna in for her 6 month checkup. She was 14 pounds 5 oz and 24 3/4" long. She is in the 25% for both her height & weight. This would explain why people are always comenting on how little she is. Though she is little she is a mover. At 6 months she is already crawling! She loves eating & signs "finished" when she is done. She is such a funny baby. Shad & Mylee absoluetly love her.
