We're in the car last night talking about the sound that S & H make when they are put together. "They say Shh, like Shad" Shad then says, "Sh means quiet in Spanish or somethin like that" Thats my boy. I moved all the furniture so I could clean the carpets the other night. Shad thought it was pretty funny. He came running to my room. "Mom, come look at this" "What?" I ask. "You gotta see this, it's so funny. Come on you gotta see this" I walk out and he points to the furniture. "Isn't that so funny? I think my dad did that while I was sleeping"
That boy makes me laugh every day, and I need to be better about writing them down. I hope this makes everyone that reads it smile.

4 yrs old
Shad turned four just over a week ago. We had a small birthday party at the farsmstead cornmaze, and had a pinata. There is so much for kids to do at the farmstead, a cornbox full of corn to play in, the cow train, a mini maze, a straw maze, duck races, hay rides, really cool slides and pumpkins to pick, and lets not forget the pig races. My kids would be out there everyday if they could. Jefferson is the only one that lucky. It was a nice day not freezing. We had cupcakes and hot chocolate and the kids all had a great time. Thanks Jim & Hillary for a great time.

Shad gets his very own Farmstead shirt & sweatshirt--just like his dad!
Fun on the hayride

Shad has been such a blessing to our family. He is a very good big brother and such a funny kid that we are always laughing. Some of his favorite things are...
the color yellow
cars, trucks, tractors, airplanes (pretty much anything that moves)
his geotrax train set
working with his dad
"yellow corn"
dogs
riding his Boise State Bike.
We love you Shad!

Lorna's Blessing
Yesterday Jefferson had the opportunity to bless Lorna. Jefferson's mom made her dress and it was beautiful. My dad compared her to an angel and I would have to agree. We were lucky to have most of our family here, but missed the ones that couldn't make it. Afterwards we had a BB-Q at our house with all the family and are grateful to everyone that came. It was a long day for Lorna but she did great. She is a very good baby and we are grateful for that.
What's in a name?
For those of you who don't know, we named Lorna after Jefferson's grandma--she passed away before Jefferson was born, but when she was alive she volunteered at the pediatric ward in St. Lukes. When she died some of her friends donated a painting in her memory to the hospital. Then when Jefferson was a baby he kicked himself off the counter and fractured his skull. His parents took him to the hospital and waited for a room. Hanging outside the room he was taken to was that painting. His parents both felt peace right away and knew that he would be ok. All of our kids are named after someone special to us. Mylee and I have the same middle name, Stella, which was my great grandma's name and Shad's middle name is Jefferson after his dad but also an ancestor that was a captain in the Mormon Batallion. I hope that someday they learn to appreciate their names and the history behind them and that they will live their lives in a way that will bring honor to those whose names they bear.

The same distance?
We were sitting down to dinner earlier this week and Shad says,
"Dad, why is yours getting the same distance as Uncle Leighs?"
Jefferson and I look at him in confusion and say, "what?"
"Why is yours getting the same distance as Uncle Leighs?"
I ask "Why is his what getting the same distance as Uncle Leighs?"
To which Shad replies "His belly!"
I couldn't help but bust up laughing. What a funny kid we have.
I'm not sure if Jefferson should worry about his weight or if Leigh should feel good about his. You choose.

Oh how they grow
It is hard to believe that Lorna is already a month and a half old. She is 10 lbs and 21 1/2 inches long. She has survived her older sister picking her up and her brother's excessive kisses. Shad is actually very good with her. My mom & I were canning spagetti sauce and Lorna sat in the recliner with Shad & just slept it was so nice. He is also working on building her self-esteem because everytime he is holding her or sitting by her he says, "She is so pretty" He is such a good big brother who is excited for his birthday coming up. Mylee got bit by something the other day and her face swelled up pretty bad. She looked pretty funny. She is quite the character and keeps me on my toes. She loves Lorna too, just a little too much sometimes. She always says, "I like her" its very cute. If Lorna cries Mylee is running to her side which is sweet. Our lives have just gotten very busy--Jefferson is working at the corn maze plus at his full time job which will be changing. Thats right we will be done with nights--hooray! Jefferson is going to work for Barefoot lawns and we are very excited about the new opportunity and realize that it is such a blessing. At a time when so many people are out of work or looking for work Jefferson was asked out of the blue to come work for the company and we are all excited. I got lots of canning done this year peaches, pears, spagetti sauce, pickles and salsa. It's so nice to have it done. Here are a few pics more to come in the next few days.

Here you go
Lorna Shay is here!
So the big news is that our new baby girl is here, but lets do some catching up. This summer has flown by and Jefferson hasn't made as many trips to the lake as he would have liked, but is coping well. Shad is very excited to have a new baby sister and to have 5 people in our family. He is very smart and can write his name all by himself. He asks lots of questions and talks a lot. Mylee turned 2 last week and acts like she's 2. She is a very funny girl with some serious attitude. Both Shad and Mylee talk nonstop and love playing with each other. I am very excited to see how they adjust to our new baby girl. Lorna Shay Hunt 7 lbs. 9 oz 20 1/2 inches long. She is so sweet and has a ton of dark hair. She reminds me a lot of what Shad looked like when he was born. Everything went well and we are all doing great. Thanks to everyone that has helped and will help with our kids. We really appreciate it.
One of the first pics.
What a good big brother
Mylee checking out Lorna from a distance
Mylee decided that it would be ok to hold the baby. Shad is showing everyone in the room that there are 5 people in our family.
